This fresh place Friday takes us to Boulder, Colorado. Boulder is infamous for its liberal, artsy people and colorful western roots. Boulder is a gateway town to the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains that lies in a basin below Flagstaff Mountain. Boulder is also home to “The Flatirons”. The Flatirons are rock formations that look similar to the bottom of a clothing iron. The Flatirons create a gorgeous backdrop to Boulder and the surrounding communities. Boulder Creek runs through the town of Boulder with fresh water from the Arapahoe Glacier.
Boulder, Colorado is also home to the University of Colorado Buffaloes which opened its doors in 1877. The university is located just south of the always entertaining Pearl Street Mall. The Pearl Street Mall is an eclectic collection of shops, eateries, entertainment venues, open air walkways and local businesses located in downtown Boulder. The Pearl Street Mall has been featured in movies including chick-flick film Catch and Release. A local deli that was closed in 1999 was also featured on the TV series Mork and Mindy. To some there may be no better way to experience Boulder, Colorado than to take a stroll down Pearl Street Mall.
